If a blogger falls in cyberspace, will anyone notice when he doesn’t blog?
I’ve been away from the blog for a couple of reasons. In backwards chronological order, first I was on vacation for the past week in Myrtle Beach, SC at the Dunes Village Resort. My wife and girls and my parents and in-laws all went. It was awesome. We are tired. Obviously, blogging wasn’t high on my priority list when I had a beach to sit on all day.
Second, the previous week I was in Riverside, CA, visiting California Baptist University for a job interview. Everything went very well and I’m very excited to say that I’ll be starting to teach there in the fall as an Assistant Professor of Christian Studies in their Online and Professional Studies division!
I’m excited about this for a few reasons, namely that:
- CBU is a GREAT school that is trying to do some really interesting things academically;
- Teaching jobs are few and far between these days, so I am thankful to God that he’s blessed me with one and to CBU that they were generous enough to offer one; and,
- Riverside is a neat city and there are plenty of things to do there for my wife and I and the kids. Between the mountains, the beach, Disneyland, and the rest of Southern California I doubt we’ll have a free weekend.
Obviously we’ll be far from our parents in AL but with American Airlines’ sweet Super Saver tickets I doubt visiting will be a problem.
If you read this and you’re the praying kind, pray that we sell our house. This is really the only thing weighing on us at the moment, and it would be a huge relief if we could get it sold!
Congratulations! What a wonderful opportunity!
congratulations on the job!
This is wonderful news, Matt. Congratulations! I hope the transition goes smoothly for you and your family and that you all enjoy this upcoming season of ministry and find it extremely fruitful.
Nice! Talk about a Coast to Coast transition.
